The Joint-Stock Company "O‘zbekgeofizika" presents its first Sustainability Report for 2024 to the wider public.

271

This document reflects the Company's activities in the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) spheres in accordance with international standards.
The report has been developed in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) international standards and demonstrates the Company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainability.

One of the main regulatory foundations for preparing this report is Clause 23 of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PF-37 dated February 21, 2024, which mandates the implementation of sustainable development and ESG principles in state-owned enterprises.

To effectively fulfill this mandate, JSC “O‘zbekgeofizika” partnered with “KPMG Audit” LLC, a member of the “Big Four”, and carried out the following activities:

  • Conducted a diagnostic assessment of the current ESG status of the Company;

  • Developed an ESG strategy and roadmap;

  • Integrated international approaches during the report preparation process.

In 2024, the Company analyzed the alignment of its operations with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and, in line with its strategic priorities, identified the following five goals as top priorities:

  • SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being;

  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality;

  • SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy;

  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth;

  • SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities.

As part of environmental protection efforts, systematic work is being carried out to reduce waste, assess environmental risks, and use resources efficiently. In particular, in 2024, the waste recycling rate increased by 18%.

The Company also continues to focus on promoting gender equality in its internal policies. By the end of 2024, the share of women reached 26%. Considering the nature of geological exploration, which is typically associated with male labor, this is a notable achievement.

The report analyzes the Company’s ESG and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities from the perspective of compliance with S&P Global Ratings and MSCI ESG Rating criteria. To obtain an ESG rating, a number of action plans were defined, and recommendations were developed to address identified weaknesses.
