New Hydrocarbon Fields in the Republic of Uzbekistan

In the Ustyurt region, as a result of geological exploration carried out by specialists from JSC Uzbekgeofizika, a new gas condensate field — Muynak — has been discovered. The work was conducted within the framework of the State Program for the Reproduction and Development of the Hydrocarbon Mineral Resource Base.

The preparation of the Muynak structure for deep drilling became possible thanks to modern 3D seismic exploration conducted under the Karakalpakskaya 3D project. The survey was carried out using Inova G3i equipment, while data processing and interpretation were performed on the Paradigm hardware-software complex.

According to the geological passport of the structure prepared by specialists from JSC Uzbekgeofizika, the area of the prospective object is 7.6 square kilometers. The depth of reservoir occurrence ranges from 4,700 to 5,280 meters, and the main deposits are associated with Lower Jurassic formations, which are considered highly promising for hydrocarbon exploration.

After obtaining a commercial inflow of natural gas from the first well, specialists from JSC Uzbekgeofizika, together with experts from the State Enterprise “Institute of Geology and Exploration of Oil and Gas Fields”, developed scientifically grounded recommendations for the location of subsequent exploratory wells.

The discovery of the Muynak field became part of a series of successful geological exploration projects. In 2025 alone, based on the research results of JSC Uzbekgeofizika, three additional gas condensate fields were discovered in the Bukhara-Khiva region — Yangi Chukurkul (project “Karadarinskaya 2D”), Chulnuri (project “Khazarbaghskaya 2D”), and Zafarobod (project “Zafarobodskaya 2D”).

These discoveries significantly strengthen the country’s mineral resource base and create a foundation for further growth in hydrocarbon production. The achievements became possible thanks to the systematic and professional work of JSC Uzbekgeofizika, which operates under the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Currently, JSC Uzbekgeofizika continues geological exploration aimed at identifying promising targets at depths of up to 8,000 meters.
